Watch This Sliding Door Close and Latch Itself (Pool-Safe in Goodyear)
We recently finished a job in Goodyear that's easiest to explain by just showing it. This homeowner has a pool out back, and we fitted their existing sliding patio door with a self-closer and a self-latch.
Here's what's happening in the clip. The door gets opened, then let go. It glides closed on its own and latches, with nobody touching it. Then comes a quick tug test on the handle, and the door stays put. It's locked.
Why a Self-Closing Door Matters When You Have a Pool
Most of us have done it: you step out to the patio with your hands full, or you're coming back in and get distracted, and the slider stays open behind you. On most days that's no big deal. In a home with a pool, an open door is a direct path from the house to the water.
A self-closing, self-latching slider takes the "someone forgot to shut it" moment out of the picture. The door closes and latches whether or not anyone remembers.

Young kids who are quick, curious, and drawn to the water
Pets that slip out the second a door is left open
Visiting grandkids or guests who don't know your house rules yet
